Hopi Prayer
"Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints in the snow.
I am the sunlight on the ripened grain.
I am the gentle Autumn's rain.
When you awaken in the morning hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush of quiet birds
in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there.
I did not die..."
Reflection and I went to a lot of shows! I did all the A rated shows. Also did USDF recognized shows as we training and 1st level dressage, we took 1st and 2nd places there too. Together, we won a few Championships in A rated shows and at unrated local fairs as well. My favorite 1st was the Arabian Festival in Syracuse, NY at the colliseum. Reflections Angel and I had not shown in a year and didn't practice much before hand, despite competing against professional trainers we took a 1st in Hunt Seat (she was amazing!).
Reflection could jump so high I thought we were flying! She would trot in place and lope in place, which helped us do so well in Western classes.Reflection ran so fast it felt like we were floating...she really did it all...with the exception of halter, where she couldn't really get what there was to get so bothered about.
Her best qualities were shown with children. I let her be used for therapy for a couple of weeks. There was a little gal that was mute and had no limbs, she was 8 years old and never showed any sign of emotions. The instructor tried her on other horses, and she cried! So they tried Reflection, she nuzzled the little girl and pulled the blanket off her lap, and she actually laughed for the first time! They joined the up everyday for 2 weeks and went 10 miles a day on trails (where she was well cared for by Reflection).
She was simply so wonderful, I could write all day...
